Mayor-President Melvin L. "Kip" Holden and the Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness are working to provide critical information to the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish to help them prepare for, respond to and recover from all emergency situations. We call it being "Red Stick Ready" -- our own brand of preparedness that our city and parish have become nationally known for.
The Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness has achieved the highest national certification from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP). Baton Rouge is one of only two cities in Louisiana to be certified as a "Storm Ready Community" by the National Weather Service.
The Mayor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness in East Baton Rouge Parish has recorded a series of television shows. These shows are themed “Red Stick Ready” and are part of an effort to enhance community outreach. Please see links below for All Hazards videos that will help you and your family prepare for any type of emergency. Remember to be Red Stick Ready!
